The South East Cyber Resilience Centre is pleased to announce Assistant Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Peter O’Doherty as the latest Founding Partner.
Peter O’Doherty joined Thames Valley Police in July 2019 looking after Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime. The regional command covers the police force areas of Thames Valley, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
Peter O’Doherty started his career with the City of London Police, where he became a detective. He has worked in a number of roles, specialising in cyber and economic crime, including working for the economic crime directorate, which acts as the national lead for fraud for UK policing. There he spent time working to build economic crime capabilities across local, regional and national policing.
He became the director of Action Fraud and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau - the UK central reporting and analytical hub for fraud and cybercrime. Peter went on to specialise in cybercrime, intellectual property and cyber security.
On joining the Board of Founding Partners, Peter O’Doherty said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Board for The Cyber Resilience Centre for the South East. Last year, cyber crime cost businesses in the region over £900,000 and 264 cyber crime incidents were reported to Action Fraud.
“Cyber crime is one of the biggest threats to our regions businesses, so it’s fantastic that the SECRC has been established to help tackle the daily threats they face.”
Responding to the announcement, Director of SECRC Justin Torgout, said: “I’m delighted to have ACC Peter O’Doherty join our Board of Founding Partners at the SECRC.
