Meet The Team

The 4 South East police forces have a dedicated Cyber Crime team who support victims from all communities when a cyber crime occurs.

The South East Cyber Crime team are regionally coordinated by the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit and deliver local support to citizens and organisations.

They work proactively and reactively on significant cyber crime investigations and aim to defend against evolving cyber threats, deter and disrupt hostile action, and identify and utilise expertise to overcome future threats and challenges.  We are all part of Team Cyber UK which delivers the National Cyber Crime Strategy and supports the National Cyber Security Centre.

Cyber Protect Officers are your local point of contact to receive tailored support and guidance.  They can be easily accessed through us, your local police force, or the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit website, with priority given to those who are most vulnerable.

South East Cyber Resilience Centre

Chris began his career with a multinational technology company before joining the police service in the mid-1990s. During his 30-year policing career, he served across a variety of departments, often specialising in technology-focused roles and embracing emerging innovations.

Driven by a passion for technology and problem-solving, Chris joined the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit as a Police Cyber Security Advisor. There, he helped deliver the UK's National Cyber Security Strategy, working closely with businesses and organisations to improve awareness, encourage positive behaviour change, and strengthen cyber resilience. Chris later joined the South East Cyber Resilience Centre as Director and Head of Cyber and Innovation.

Having retired from policing after a 30-year career and as a member of the International Cyber Expo's Advisory Council, Chris now continues to help organisations reduce risk, improve preparedness, and respond more effectively when incidents occur as the Director of the Cyber Resilience Centre for the South East.

His approach combines practical guidance, real-world experience and clear communications, making cyber resilience understandable, actionable, and relevant.

Abdullah Khan

Cyber Path Supervisor

National Cyber Resilience Centre Group

A former Ethical Hacker at the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, Abdullah uses his extensive technical expertise, as well as experience in commercial delivery, to support, train and mentor the students within the Cyber PATH Programme.

Having graduated with an Honours degree in computing with AI in 2005, after running his own businesses, Abdullah returned to university as a mature student where he then completed a Masters in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security (Distinction) from Abertay University.

His dissertation research was to guide front line law enforcement officers carrying out missing person investigations using SOCMINT (SOCial Media INTelligence). With a strong interest in talent development, he has supported fellow Ethical Hackers from Abertay University to perform outreach programs for high school students.

After graduation, he worked with BRIM as Senior Ethical Hacking Lead, where he supported and cemented the foundations of the Cyber PATH programme across the regional centres. Within that role, he onboarded and trained the current cohort of students and undertook client engagement. Additionally, Abdullah helped improve organisations’ cyber security posture by supporting students while delivering the various cyber services. He continues his role with NCRCG as Cyber PATH Supervisor to make sure Cyber PATH achieves its full potential.

The critical points for him in this role are to help SME’s become more cyber aware and help them improve their cyber resilience. Additionally just as important, helping cyber-focused students gain the experience and confidence so that after graduating from the programme they can not only talk the talk but also walk the walk in the cyber field. Making the role worthwhile is helping students start their cyber careers.
