Volunteer Opportunites
The centre is a police led partnership working with academia and businesses to help organisations improve their cyber resilience.

Organisations that use email, social media, websites, computers, servers, or any internet-enabled devices, will benefit.

This crime prevention programme delivers guidance and services designed to help SMOs, supply chain organisations, and charities in defending against cyber crime.
To enable this, we recruit numerous undergraduates every year from universities across the UK giving them real world experience, giving them a strong foundation for their future careers, whilst helping organisations that may not have the resources to access cyber security solutions.

What we are looking for

What skills are needed
✅ This volunteer role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people and making a difference in their community.
✅ You’ll need to be confident speaking to others face-to-face, able to explain things clearly.
✅ Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet to help someone complete a simple online form.
✅ Being organised, approachable, and professional is essential, as you’ll be representing a police-led initiative.
✅ While no technical knowledge is required, an interest in cyber security or community safety is a bonus.

What you will be doing
-
Review the centre's brochure and flyer to understand the objectives (printed copies available on request).
-
Choose a location e.g., a retail high street, science park, or coworking hub.
-
Spend a few hours engaging with local organisations, starting conversations with people.
-
Alternatively, attend a local business event and network with those present, using one of our ready-made presentations if that helps.
-
In both cases, take a few minutes to encourage organisations to join this public service. If they’re short on time, ask for their consent and a business card, and enter their details for them.
-
There is no requirement to undertake any technical assessments, or put hands on devices, the joining process addresses this.
-
To help understand good cyber security, join the centre, and book onto a security awareness training session.
