SECRC Advisory Group out in full force as two former Royal Marines come ‘aboard’

We are delighted to announce two new members who have joined the SECRC Advisory Group. Welcome to Tom Huckle, Director of Marclay Associates and Steve Driver, Group Head of Operations, Branding Science.

Tom Huckle, Director of Marclay Associates

Tom Huckle is a Director with 10 years’ experience in security and cyber security operations. Tom leads the Marclay Associates cyber consultancy, with a particular focus on the outsourced-CISO and crisis response services.

Tom was a serving officer with the Royal Marines, specialising in intelligence and reconnaissance. Deployed overseas, he led complex operations working alongside liaison services, with cyber and data analytics used to underpin many of the operational decisions he had to make. As a consequence, he developed a blend of physical and technical skills that allowed him to excel in his role as an officer during live operations.

Following his career with the Royal marines, Tom qualified as a cyber attack monitoring specialist, working within teams of cyber analysts to mitigate cyber threats against the finance sector.

As the Director of Marclay’s consultancy, Tom leads many of the outsourced-CISO and longer-term engagements. Able to use his extensive experience to assist clients with long term planning, he has developed and implemented complex and effective cyber security roadmaps for clients in finance, technology, sport and public sectors. Proactive in his approach, he has demonstrated his leadership abilities and has regularly briefed business owners, boards and C-suite executives.

Tom is certified with the Council for Registered Ethical Security (CREST) and is a Registered Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst. He possesses a number of cyber security qualifications, demonstrating a wide skill competency in several technical disciplines such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Security Analytics+, CompTIA Cyber Security Analyst+, and is a certified ISO/IEC27001 Auditor and Data Protection Officer.

Tom holds a BSc from Loughborough and is currently UK HM Government SC (security check) cleared.

When asked about why he joined the SECRC Advisory Group, Tom said: “It is always a privilege to be in a position to help others and as such I am very much looking forward to joining the Cyber Resilience Centre for the South East and supporting them in helping protect SMEs and supply chain businesses against cyber crime.”

Steve Driver, Group Head of Operations, Branding Science

After an extended career in the military, Steve is now Group Head of Operations for Branding Science. A global specialty care insights-driven consultancy supporting the worldwide pharmaceutical industry, helping teams successfully launch new medicines with confidence. Ultimately, Steve is responsible for creating the operational environment to allow his team to be creative and produce excellent market research.

Security, especially cyber is a huge part of his role and through the relationship with the company’s IT provider and education of his team, Steve strives to keep the companies data protected. His military career and previous experience working with Law Enforcement has enabled him to understand the risks associated with a commercial framework and to ensure business continuity.

With very limited previous experience in cyber, Steve sees this as not only a great opportunity to enhance his knowledge, but to promote the SECRC to companies across the region in a similar position.

On joining the Advisory Group, Steve said: “The vulnerabilities and threats associated to remote working has never felt more real, so I am excited for the opportunity to join the SECRC partnership, supporting business and to expand the network of cyber understanding.”
