Help your business become more cyber resilient with our FREE Core Membership

The Cyber Resilience Centre for the South East (SECRC) was established to offer cyber security guidance and cyber resilience services to businesses of all sizes across the South East region. A priority of the SECRC is to provide guidance and affordable support to sole traders, microbusinesses (under 10 employees) and small businesses.

With 43% of all cyber attacks targeted at small businesses, the threat to businesses from cybercrime is real and growing.

As a small or micro business, improving your cyber resilience is invaluable, both from the point of view of protecting your own business but also to protect the organisations you may supply as part of their supply chain.

It was recently reported by global Cyber Education company Cybint, that 95% of cybersecurity breaches are caused by human error. A breach caused by human error often comes in the form of Phishing, this is where sensitive information or data is stolen through fraudulent activity.

Phishing most often occurs in the form of an email, where a cybercriminal impersonates a real organisation. This email will often ask you to give personal information or to click on a link which unbeknown to you, could let the criminals onto your business's IT systems.

Businesses in the South East can sign up for a free Core Membership online and receive a welcome pack full of practical resources and tools that will help you identify your risks and vulnerabilities and the steps you can take to increase your levels of protection. Through your membership, you will also get regular updates on new threats, designed to help you stay safer.

The centre’s commercial approach allows it to do more than you’d traditionally expect from policing: it can contract directly with you to provide affordable cyber security services via the CRCs student services programme. Student Cyber Services are designed to provide guidance to SMEs who are new to cyber security and need help getting started. The centre has formed a partnerships with local universities to identify the best and brightest ‘ethical hacking’ talent from across the region. These hand-picked students are deployed to work alongside the centre’s experienced team to provide small business with a range of affordable service to help improve your cyber resilience.

Via our student services, businesses have the opportunity to secure highly-professional services at affordable rates, whilst for the students, there’s a great chance to understand how the commercial world works, and build their CV. Find out more about the Student Services available here.
